THE VOW
My heart pounded with eagerness as I stood at the Altar with my best man, Iheanyi.

With the largest smile on his face, he gave me a back pat. He knew I was worried, so his kind gesture touched my heart.
I waited for Ifechukwu to arrive in style, but it seemed like an eternity.
Then the doors swung open, presenting her in all her splendor. As I received my first glance of her, time seemed to stop still. In her black wedding dress, she shone with stunning beauty. Ifechukwu loves to make a statement. Every detail, from the delicate lace to the shimmering beads, complemented her elegance and grace.
As she took her first steps down the aisle, i didn’t seem to mind anyone and it was just her and me. Her eyes met mine, and I was captivated by the love and joy shining in them. In that moment, everything else became insignificant. The world stopped spinning, and my focus was only on her.
I couldn’t help but smile, my heart overflowing with overwhelming happiness. The way she calmly moved towards me, her every movement filled with confidence and poise, made me feel like the luckiest man alive. Each step she took brought her closer to becoming my wife, and I couldn’t wait to begin our journey together.
I clasped her hand in mine as she walked up to my side and I instantly felt an electrifying connection between us. She was stunning even with the veil on.
I let go of her hand as the priest cleared his throat, never taking my eyes off of her.
“Sacred Matrimony of Chimdi and Ifechukwu is being witnessed and celebrated in this place today, dearly beloved. They have made the decision to openly profess their love and devotion to one another today, in the presence of their loved ones”. To the group, the priest spoke.
You two have written vows, right? He asked nicely, “I don’t want to interfere with anything you guys have planned.
“Yes, sir, we will make our own vows.” I answered.
He agreed by nodding his head.
I repeatedly cleared my throat while attempting to suppress the tears that were stuck there.
I grabbed her hands, looked Ifechukwu in the eye, and said:
“ Ife nke m, omalicha m. Today, my heart is overflowing with joy and gratitude as we stand here ready to commit our lives to one another. Words cannot fully express the depth of my emotions, but I’ll try my best to express the love I feel for you.
From the moment I first laid eyes on you at the Atm point, I knew that my life was forever changed. You are the missing piece that completes me, the person who brings out the best in me, and the one who understands me like no one else ever could.
In your presence, I feel safe, cherished, and unconditionally loved. You have shown me what it means to be supported, to be encouraged, and to be truly seen. Your unwavering belief in me has given me the courage to face my fears and chase my dreams.
Through joy and sorrow, laughter and tears, I will stand beside you, holding your hand and being a source of strength and comfort. I promise to listen without judgment, to speak without harshness, and to always strive to understand your deepest desires and fears. I promise to respect you in all our dealings.
Today, I give you my whole heart and soul, knowing that in doing so, I am receiving the greatest gift of all – the gift of your love. I promise to nourish our love every day, to never take it for granted, and to keep the flame of passion burning forever.
I am eternally grateful for the love we share, and I am honored to call you my partner, my best friend, and the love of my life.

She wiped the tears that were running freely down my face as I felt her hands on mine. I bawled like a baby when she put her arms around me.
I was so grateful to be in her hands.
I was certain that I had found my soul mate, and I couldn’t wait for our trip to begin.
