I’ve heard about corporate begging and my first experience was in 2019 but today’s experience left me dumbfounded.
My roommate and I were on our way back from the market,we boarded a bus. Few minutes later, a casual looking man joined our seat.
We started a discussion on how we budgeted money(we did not disclose the amount) and we were left with ₦100. We concluded that the country is really getting out of hand and we had no other choice than to manage the few things we purchased.
Immediately, the young man tapped my roommate and asked if she had extra ₦100. she replied that she had no cash on her and actually I’m paying for her.
The guy turned to my direction and asked same question. I replied I had no cash on me.
He started a long ass story for my roommate. He explained that he was stranded and he had no money on him. He went to bank for withdrawal and he couldn’t because he had issues with his bank. He was on his way to school for National identification registration because he was asked to bring his card for rectification.
Also, he borrowed ₦2,000 from someone and he had no idea on how to pay back.
My roommate asked if she could use our change from the markert’s expenses and foot the guy’s bus fare. I told her she should go ahead. We paid for his fare.
Guess what? My nigga continued with his story. He talked about how hungry he was and how desperate he needed money. He mentioned he was sent ₦75,000( Lori iro) and he couldn’t withdraw. He kept emphasizing on his hunger and how he hasn’t been stranded in his life. He also opened his wallet to show my roommate.
Who baba dy yarn this “okoto meow” for? People wey no even chop enter market? people that just lamented in front of him how the prices of foodstuffs wrecked our account? Baba kept talking till we reached the army checkpoint and alighted from the bus. We left our foodstuffs in the bus and told the driver we would meet him in park.
Baba follow us for back o. What was he expecting? For us to give him money? He heard how we lamented that the cost of living has frustrated us and still wanted extra cash.
Person wey no get money dy quick vex, I left my roommate with him and avoided dumping my frustration on the young man. I chased after the bus driver before he goes to another location with our foodstuffs,i no get strength to speak “supri-supri”.
My roommate met up with me and I asked after the guy. She said he was ready to follow us down to the park. She just had to dismiss him.
Things sha dy happen for this naija.?
I’m aware that people get stranded all the time. This particular act isn’t a “being stranded ” situation.
My questions are:
1.why was he trying to get more from us? No be begging be that?
2. Have you experienced this?
3. How did you handle it?
Your penship,
Blomx!

This one is everywhere. I have met them in different buses claiming not to have enough to complete their T-fare. I have paid for a mother and her son once. Not because I believed her story but because I had enough to give. The baba you met is a storyteller Sha?
???
This set of people will make it difficult for one to help the truthful ones next time.
Omo the guy is a certified story teller o.?
It’s annoying. That’s how they end up robbing and worst, taking sexual advantage of anybody in the worst way. He was ready to follow you anywhere even if the route you take is lonely and scary. Annoying set of people.
For me, if i ever encounter them, i hope I’m not mad enough to have a loose tongue that day cause it will all hurts and love from me. Smh. I won’t even give an ear.
True tho. Be careful and alert. ?
1.Its begging and he knows it.More like a full time job. He wanted to make the most out of it.
I have had so many encounters with them
Probably at the ATM stand where I want to withdraw my last 1k because “If I perish,I perish”.
Then someone will start telling me stories.
I usually ignore them.
The way my earphones come through for me during moments like this ehhh???
We all have to be careful sha
??? earphones always coming through since 1960. Yeah we all should be careful.
